Software

CourseWare, Moosewood, Gecko, and other programs are Java-based simulators designed by faculty and a programmer in CBCS. This software helps students understand complex ecological patterns and processes traditionally taught in such courses as landscape ecology, community ecology, and wildlife conservation ecology. CourseWare modules, currently 20 in number, explore climate change, the impacts of anthropogenic activities on natural ecosystems, predator-prey relationships, and many other topics covered in traditional graduate and undergraduate level landscape and community ecology courses. CBCS simulators were featured in the Netwatch section of Science Magazine on February 14, 2003 (Volume 2003). For more information on the simulators, please contact CBCS at cbcs@yale.edu.
